Women Commission
Archdiocese of Nagpur

Sr. Rani Paulose SJL
Directress for Women Commission

Archdiocese of Nagpur had been promoting the empowerment of women over the years and that has made a noticable contribution towards education, health care, gender equality and justice, thus ensures  a sense of women’s  dignity. His Grace, Most Rev. Elias Gonsalves, Archbishop of Nagpur has time and again emphasized the formation of ‘Women Commission’ at different levels.  He has made a special effort to build up diocesan & denary level women coordinators and women groups in each Parish to facilitate the participation of women in all the ministries, policies and programs of all the Parishes in the Archdiocese of Nagpur.

The Women’s Commission would work towards the promotion of equality and harmony where all women and men are respected and value the gender differences.

Facilitate and encourage women to be rooted in Christ and formed in spiritual values would envisage themselves to be ‘missionary disciples’ and would work for women who need to be socially, economically, culturally and politically empowered. Women are made aware of Government schemes and avail them and they are encouraged to nurture positive customs and cultures that enhance human life.

It is said that, “The safety and security that we provide to our women and children determines the well-being of the state and society”. Unfortunately despite our numerous achievements and efforts, deep rooted patterns of repressive attitudes continue to prevail across the social fabric of life, hindering women’s dignity, increased rates of violence against women and gender discrimination still continues to relegate women to a secondary status, subjecting them to heinous violations of human rights.

I along with my dedicated team continue to make constant efforts to ensure that we remain committed to accelerating progress towards Animation of women and safeguarding women’s rights.

As a responsible citizen of the country, each of us has a duty towards building a fair, equitable environment for our women. I urge you to join hands in this mission today and seek your blessings and continued support.
